As the title indicates, these compositions evoke dark and moody sonorities and display extensive use of synthesizers. Many of these tracks could fit into a suspense category as well, and I wrote some for sci-fi projects, but in general the music in these pieces is more subdued and emotional. I relied heavily on analog sounds and synths to create suspended atmospheres and a sense that something is happening under the surface, always evolving and changing. The music is often hypnotic, minimalist and inner looking, seeking to depict not only the action on screen but also what is happening in a character’s mind.
