This Netflix documentary narrates the rise and fall of Pablo Escobar using found audio of Escobar’s calls and conversations with others. For this film, the producers asked me to create a score that was a mix between minimalist electronic sonorities and orchestral elements. The music is tense and evolving but also emotive and melodic when required by the narrative, such
as in the music cues for “Plata o Plomo” and “Asesinato de Galan.” The score features both the Ronroco and the Acoustic Guitar as lead instruments, often playing the main theme and cementing the location of the action in Colombia and Latin America. The life of Pablo Escobar comprises events that challenge our understanding of good, evil and ambition, I wanted the score to have a wide range in orchestration, instrumentation and musical ideas to match the legendary tale of the man who earned “Crime’s Davinci” as his nickname
