Divergence is an award winning short film by the talented director Adrian Orozco, with whom I have collaborated on several projects. Divergence tells a story about the strong bond of brotherhood and how good intentions can lead to terrible choices that can alter a life forever. Adrian wanted an electronic score that not only underscored the action but also communicated the intensity of the choices made by the main characters. The music is somewhat inspired by the film scores of Trent Reznor, using acid synths, electronics with techno sonorities and driving beats. Nonetheless, my favorite music cue is the most subdued, minimalist and emotive, the Main Theme, where a delayed electric piano carries a bitter sweet melody.
