The Ringing is a psychological drama that explores a husband’s life blurs between dream and
reality, he is tested through surreal experiences in order to make changes within himself. This
film by Alex Romero blurs the line between reality and psychosis, between memories and the
present. I wrote the score to reflect that tension, I wanted the music to accentuate the doubts
about whether what we see on screen is real or exists solely in the main character’s mind. This is
a film where the threat of violence is always present, so the music sounds and feel a little
claustrophobic, always making the audience wonder and feel uncomfortable. The score features
mostly synths, beats and electronics mixed with sparse and long string passages that create a
constant sense of unbalanced tension
